(There is the possibility of guide, Munir Nasr, from Cuiaba; this would mean earlier 'setoff' from Vila Bela. We would also investigate the possibility of a supply 'drop' at the Nascente do Rio Verde)

Expedition

Phase 1: Trek on foot across Serra Ricardo Franco to Nascente do Rio Verde- (6- 8 days)

Phase 2: By canoe down Rio Verde from Nascente (6- 8 days)

Phase 3: On foot unless it is possible to hire transport from Rio Verde back to Vila Bela. (4 days)

NOTE: There are several points on the Rio Verde where portage is possible across open savannah back to the Vila Bela road. These could be used if time was short. If time permitted, an option would be to continue to the Rio Guapore and return upriver or by road.
